About the Idaho Preparedness Learning Management System
The Idaho Preparedness Learning Management System is a joint project between the Health Preparedness Program of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and the Institute of Emergency Management of Idaho State University.
Both the Institute of Emergency Management and the Health Preparedness Program are each responsible for delivering training in Idaho under the broad category of emergency preparedness. Instead of creating two separate systems, the two agencies partnered to implement one learning management system for use by all of Idaho’s first responders to include public health, health care, emergency management, emergency medical services, fire, hazardous materials, law enforcement, and public safety communications.
Funding for the project comes from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security, and the Office for Domestic Preparedness.
About the Institute of Emergency Management (www.isu.edu/meridian/p_iem.shtml or 208-373-1764)
The Institute, located on the Idaho State University Boise Center Campus, was approved by the Idaho State Board of Education in July 2003. The purpose of the Institute is to offer workshops, courses, certificates, and in the future, degrees to meet the professional and career development needs of Idahoans employed in or planning a career in Emergency Management.
About the Health Preparedness Program
The Health Preparedness Program is part of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The program receives funding from CDC and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to deliver training to health care and public health workers throughout the state in the area of emergency preparedness and management. The Health Preparedness Program works in coordination with each of the seven district health departments to deliver this training.
